Can't shift into second, fourth and reverse.
Hi all, 2008 LX-P 5 SPD unknown mileage
I replaced the shift linkage bushings yesterday. When I test the shifter, it can go in first, third and 5th but not 2nd, 4th, and reverse. I don't get the clunk feel when trying to get it in gear.
IS there something I can adjust, or was I supposed to do something before pushing the bushing into place?
Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know if the linkage cable can be adjusted to add tension? I feel as if the cable is slightly loose and needs tension in order to have the strength to push the lever all the way.
Hi, I did figure it out. It turns out I needed to replace the shifter cable and the shift mount. Now it feels like a brand new car. The job wasn’t bad at all. The toughest part was to unscrew the 10mm bolt that secures the shifter cable mount bracket to the body. It cost me 60 bucks for the shift mount, which is white in color and the shifter is part of the assembly. Make sure you grease the shifter ball. It’s plastic to plastic but the grease will ease the friction. That’s when you get the floppy shifter. The shifter cable was 104.00 shipped. Then you have to slide the shifter cables from the top of the engine and through the hole that goes into the center console under the stereo. You’ll see what I mean when you remove the original cables. It’ll take about 3 hours to swap.
you might get away with just replacing the shifter mount. The plastic ball wears down in time, but the cables also get stretched in time. That’s why I went with replacing both parts. Trust me. You won’t regret. Well worth the money.
