Default 96 civic power window/electrical issues

This is my first post so bare with me. I have a 96 civic lx. I've been restoring it past 3 years and it's almost perfect EXCEPT for some electrical issues(I'm great with nuts and bolts repairs but anything electric is new and uncomfortable).

The passenger side window has never worked since I got it. Other ones were kinda slow, some worked so I replaced all actuators, motors and switches. Other ones are fine but still nothing from passenger front.

When I got the car, the previous owner had some crap after market butchered job alarm system put in so I've been riding the car of ll tat crap as I find it. When I took alarm system out, power door locks didn't/still don't work. I just read about the power control unit behind drivers side door panel and was wondering if that controls windows to.

Also on the passenger side, the speaker doesn't work. I just put in new alpine cd player, 2 alpine rear speakers and 2 jbl front speakers. The passenger speaker didn't work when I got it but I figured it was blown but still with new speakers it doesn't work. All the connections are good, no nicks or problems with any wires I can see, anywhere. All the harnesses are good, no splices, factory wiring all looks right. Im wondering if there something on that particular passenger side front that might be causing some of the problems.

I just need some advice on where to go from here. Any thoughts would help greatly. And sorry for the long winded-ness. I'm soooo frustrated at this point, and everything else I got up to spec and pretty much fully restored inside and out just the darn locks, window, and now newly speaker problems!

Sorry, I suspect you wrote that on a phone and so it comes out as one bunched hard to read paragraph. I broke it up so it's a little easier to help promote positive responses.

One thing with electrical is a digital multi meter. Get em cheap from harbor freight or princess auto (depending which country yer in). You test resistance from one end of the wire to the other, so like on your passenger speaker you test at the speaker to the back of the head unit. If you get more than say 20 ohm resistance it's starting to have problems. Being the speaker doesn't work and is new, I am going to say there is a break in the wire somewhere.

On the 92-95 the speaker wire goes from the door through the door jam and along the cabin side of the fire wall all the way to the head unit. It's a real pita to replace and most people just run fresh wire. A common spot for it to break is in the door jam. You won't visually see anything wrong as it's all insulated and taped. The break is inside the wire's insulation and won't find it until you start stripping the wire of it's insulation.

There is a kewl little tester you can get that can find breaks in wires but I never felt it was worth the money being the multi meter will tell me if it's got a break and I replace the whole wire anyway.

You can do the same process for the door locks and power windows etc. It's a slow and painful process but that be electrical.

Best of luck.

Thanks for your response! Sorry it was hard to read. I have a multimeter and have tested connections for the passenger window and they all look good. Haven't done speaker yet but I will

Do you know anything about the power control unit behind drivers side door panel? Since my locks don't work since after market alarm system is gone, I figured maybe that would need replacing and it might solve window problem...

I look up the FSM pages for you this weekend and post them up for you.

I'm bushed tonight, been awhile since I've had to help hump nearly 8000 boxes in 5 hours or so.

I got a 96 civic lx. Same kind of weird problems. Windows and door locks funky. when I got it someone had put in a butchered job I an alarm system, got that all taken out(I think, still finding stray wires) and now no locks worked.

I replaced the relay under hood in fuse box(it's on the top with a couple of clips holding it in place) that made all windows except front passenger side work and now the front drivers side works unlock and lock and both back doors just unlock but not lock. Still nothing from passenger front side. Also speaker doesn't work on that side.

Put in all new sound system and all works except the darn passenger front. I just ordered the power control unit behind drivers front door.(someone posted in earlier) I'll let u know wat happens. All actuators at new btw, all connections are good to....I'll let u guys know if that control box fixes anything
