I got around to installing my super damper on my engine, once it was pressed all the way on I could see the crank key isn't large enough to completely fill the entire keyway. It went on smoothly without much fighting.
Will this be a problem? I imagine being a press-fit it would be OK but wanted an opinion.
I don't feel any increased vibration or see any wobble but I only took it for a short test drive. I'm hoping this will be some insurance against a blown oil pump.

I believe some keys are tapered, i wonder if you put the key in backward but i would take it off and inspect and try another key, last thing you want is the pulley to move throwing off timing..

If the pulley turns it does not affect timing. Only if you turn the distributor manually or tune timing from ecu.
Still the crankshafts timing belts gear has its own key to keep it in time...
So as long as the balancer pulley is in there and the crank bolt is on the timing does not change.
I took a look at it recently and it hadn't moved after driving it for a few weeks. The key is not tapered, but looks like it could a be little thicker to fill up the keyway better.
