I got a hatchback and I am getting a aftermarket wing with no 3rd brake light. I don’t know about anywhere else but in CA you can get pulled over for not having a 3rd brake light so I’m wondering what are some other options for a third brake light other than cutting the bumper for a 3rd brake light. Would the wagon 3rd brake light work in the hatch?

 

I would get an aftermarket light and mount it inside the hatch at the top of the rear window.

 

Thought the 3rd brake light wasn't mandatory until 1994? Should be grandfathered in.

Just checked 1994 was for trucks. Cars became mandatory in 1986.
