Default emissions?

I live in Maryland and i know we don't have the strictest emmsions laws, but i think i may have a problem. My stock cx motor burns oil so much it's rediculous. I have till dec. 11th to get it through. I have a b18c5 to put in it i just need to get past emissions first. Anyone else ever run a car that smoked really bad at emissions? I don't know if this affects the test or not. I would assume that i would fail by a long shot. Does anyone have any expirence with this or any ideas on how to get around it?

Don't know about Maryland, but in Illinois they require that you try to fix and that you spend some money, but I don't remeber how much. I don't think Illinois would require an engine to be rebuilt. Really the best thing you can do is go down to the test center and talk to them. Don't tell them you're changing engines, but see what they have to say.

If they're going to require you to dump a lot of cash into the old engine, you may want to think about doing the swap before the test. I was worried about my JDM b16 before I tested, but once it was tuned and cleaned, it passed emmisions by a mile.

Good luck,
G
