Icon5 Changing the timing belt, water pump too?

Its a 95 EX with a F22B1 engine, the question is do I have to change the water pump too? or only if its already failing?

An auto repair place told me thats how its done but I wanted to ask here before.

You don't HAVE to. If the pump is old though, this would be the perfect time to replace it. It is just so much more convenient to do it now than have to repeat the process at another time. Short answer, if the pump has never been replaced, yes you should.

If you don't know, just replace it. They are like $60 or something.

I would generally disagree with the default. If you change the belt, change the pump, don't take a chance, its' SOOOOO cheap a part to do while you are there. Do not take a chance, you will pay the price later. Just do it.

Same with all the little other pieces in there, swap them out, don't cheap out.

Agreed; just use a kit, like this one which is practically an OEM-level complete SKU just for your ride.

I always replace the water pump when its time to do the timing belt. I will be doing this maintenance soon using the kit posted above since I recently got my 96 Accord and have no clue when the timing belt, etc was changed.
