Default Rear main seal / torque converter question

Getting a new rear main seal installed this week in my otherwise decent 88 dx sedan. Sadly, it's an auto. I plan to eventually swap in a b20 and manual but it's my daily and need to get it fixed now. My question is, would it be worth it to install a new torque converter since it's all apart? Is it that difficult when the tranny is off? A few bolts and easy swap? Mine seems ok...maybe a very slight whine to it. Maybe it will make the shifting more snappy and add life? Having a pro do it since i live in a condo and can't wrench that extensively here.

Default Re: Rear main seal / torque converter question

For any future searchers...Turns out there is a torque converter oil seal next to the rear main. Oil was seeping through that and made it go into false neutral at freeway speeds at times. Spent $900 and replaced rear main, torque seal, axle seals, oil pan gasket. I replaced every other accessory on the top the last 2 years. Might be time for paint for the finishing touch.
