92 accord ex intermittent sputtering around 30 mpg
Been driving it for 8 months with this problem.
I have noticed it 99% of time it does it around 30 mpg, just as I ease of the gas to stay within the speed limit. But random.
Rarely happens on the freeway. Maybe 2 times. Consistently around 30 35 mpg.
I have a new oxygen sensor to be put in.
Im close to just putting it in the shop to fix, but concerned about cost to diagnose intermittent problem. Or what I should look for in a mechanic that could tackle this with confidence.
Thoughts would be appreciated.
The previous work we have done in in the following thread:

A few questions and thoughts:
1 - What do you have the spark plug gap set to? You might want to bring the gap down a bit in case it's a weak spark system
2 - You changed the distributor cap, but could the coil be weak?
3 - Could the injectors need cleaning, perhaps they are a little fouled up?
4 - Have you tried a higher grade of fuel to see if it goes away?
5 - have you checked the timing to see if it could be off a bit? In your year, you can adjust it.

Thanks for the reply.
no I have not done those things. My friend was doing the work for me, but he's not able anymore. I do not have the place, tools, or knowledge to do it.
I Ant to have some ideas when I talk to a mechanic about it.
What kind of time could this take to find in a shop?? I have no ides, it would know if I'm being taken advantage of.
thanks so much for you help.
