It's in good mechanical condition, high mileage, been a family car. But previous sibling didn't do the paint recall (If they had it) and now the clear coat is peeling majorly.
I've been quoted at a cost that is worth more than the actual car now.
So my question is,
Is there a way were I can just remove the damn clear coat in full?
Like I understand the roof and trunk paint will look dull compared to the rest of the car, but It I think that will look better than it does now....
Opinions?
It is not possible to pull the rest of the clear off. It will peel in spots dude to weathering but trying to sand or scrape it off will reveal the metal underneath which can cause rusting problems down the line. I am sorry to say there is no easy, cheap, and proper way to fix this. If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg and don't really care about ripples dents and other imperfections in the body work,, you could ask around at many different shops and see if they are willing to just scuff it down and re shoot a top coat on it. It wouldn't be a perfect fix as you may see some creases or ridges in the paint but it would be cheeper as the shop wouldn't need to worry about body work primer sealer or baseboard they would only be clear coating it and baking it then boom done. Up to you wraps are always an option.
