rack and pinion installation
yes i already tried SEARCH, but didnt find what i wanted. i took the car to the shop and it turns out that my rack and pinion is fucked. they wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for for replacement so i decided to do the work myself. is it hard to remove/install it? whats needed and what should i look out for? TIA
uuurgghhh like you said it was a honda. nothing ever goes smooth when i work on hondas. my chiltons manuel was destroyed in the rain. anyone have a helms on this procedure or anything? TIA
o yeah its a 94 dx coupe
o yeah its a 94 dx coupe
well, try this, go to a junk yard and pull one off of a civic with no engine, then you will know how to do it, those manuls... thats cheating. but i also have a 94 dx coupe so
for us
for us
is it possible to get it done within an hour using hand tools? im at a race against time for tommorow. and i dont think any junkyards around here are open on sunday
It took us 3 hours to do it on a lift. And if the rack is bad then you'll need to buy a new rack and pinion. Thats about $100 i think. If the ruber boots are still good i'll buy them from you.

uuurrghhhhh. i asked for somebody to post up the helms instructions for a 94 dx. oh well i ended up taking the thing to the shop. it was tooo frustrating for me. theyre gunna charge me $280 for a brand new part and labor. BTW, it took me about that long to take all the bolts off too, it was the part where i didnt know where to slide it through to get it out that i was having trouble with. the steering rod kept getting in the way. thanks anyways guys
the funny thing is that i tried that. i talked to the mechanic today and he said that he had to unbolt the cat converter and shift linkage to take it out. i guess it doesnt really matter anymore but it would be good for anybody else that might have the same prob in the future. Thanks again
go inside of the car down below where the pedals are located youll find a plastic cover that you need to remove. then you see 2 10mm bolts. undo those and youre all set.
