Oil pan stripped!!
My oil pan plug is stripped from the last owner and it looks like they re threaded it once before and stripped it again.. what’s the best thing to do here? the plug that’s in there now is a m16-1.5 could i re thread it again and get a bigger oil plug and if i did what’s the next size up that i should get a tap and plug for
If it were me, I'd just get a new oil pan and gasket for simplicity. There is only so much you want to go on tapping that oil pan IMO.
Between $35-60 for an aftermarket pan and between $4-$11 for an aftermarket pan gasket on Rockauto. (For a D series pan)
Always the junk yard option...but make sure it isn't stripped or beat to crap. Also make sure you clean it and dry it real good. (And replace the gasket).

Don't bother messing around. Just buy a new OEM pan. They're usually ~300 for the pan kit which will include the drain plug and crush washer. Your local dealer probably has it in stock or can get it in a day or two.
Buy a used pan from eBay or the junk yard. I made the poor decision to try and use a new $28 one from eBay and the paint flaked off of the pan inside when oil touched it
