02 civic ex help please

Default 02 civic ex help please

I have an 02 civic EX with a 1.7. I overheated the car and it stopped. We replaced the head gasket water pump timing belt new hoses new thermostat new radiator cap the problem is it has compression but won’t start we put it on the computer and no Codes were shown anybody have any idea please let me know thank you

Bad PCM? Loose alternator bolts can cause a bad PCM. This is a common issue along with a bad head gasket.

Now it’s showing a bad crank sensor code hopefully that’s it I’ll keep u posted ty

If you unplugged the crank sensor while you did the timing belt service then you risk having a bad connection at that harness. Coolant/corrosion can get in there and cause the crank sensor code. Clean it out well to make a good connection. Advice is to keep the crank sensor connected but move out of the way to avoid this issue.

Just throwing this out there cause this is what I would look at---the cam sensor. There are times that the code can be crank sensor code but turns out it's the cam. Best thing tho is to use oscilloscope and compare crank and cam signals to what they should look like from a known good waveform but I know not everyone has access to oscillo. I would also check signal wire, the power and ground on the crank sensor.

If you removed the timing belt it might be that timing is off and was it installed with timing marks on target on the compression stroke.
