d16y6 on a p2p ecu
Ive got a 98 ex 5 speed with a bad y8 (spun bearing)
So Ive done some searching and it looks like the y6 is a direct bolt in. My question is how will this run with the usdm p2p ecu? It looks like the y6 ran with a p2m ecu in its specific market. any help would be appreciated.
Also - the reason for going with the y6 is basically just availability. There are no good y8s where I am and im looking into other routes.

D16y6 is the same block, head, and pistons as d16y8, and will run perfectly on a p2p. All a d16y6 is, is a different country d16y8. Not dissimilar to the EDM Type R (B18C6) vs the USDM Type R (B18C5). Both are the same exact motor with a coubtry specific engine code.
P2M is simply an NZ version of the P2P.

Good to hear and thank you for the quick response. I think Im going to get one and see how it goes. I say that because the info I got in another thread was slightly contradictory. The poster pulled apart his/her y6 and found that the pistons were different (P2MY compared to the y8's P2P piston) and that the VTEC "train" (whatever that is) was for a VTEC-E. These factors wont affect how the engine runs on my p2p ECU?
