Default Jackhammer sound on idle.

Hey everyone! Thank you for letting me join the forum. I recently swapped a JDM D16 for a JDM B18C, Type R motor and LSD tranny, into my 89 Honda Civic Si Hatch. It was a pandemic home garage project... and my buddy and I successfully got it done. So, I took my Civic for a joyride today and when I got home, I hear this mini jackhammer sound coming from the engine compartment. It appears to be coming from the motor. You guys got any ideas? I appreciate it. Please let me know if you have any questions. I tried uploading a short clip but it won't accept it (.mov file). Thank you all.

Best way to upload videos is to post on YouTube and link them here.

As far as jackhammer noises go, I hope you don't have a knock.

Engine sounds like it may spun a bearing and has rod knock. you could of over revved it or had little to no oil or bad oil pump..

I will upload the clip soon. I don’t hear knocking though.

Thanks for the Response.

Motor has oil. I’ll check the oil pump which I believe we replaced during the swap. About the bearing, where would that be located? Thank you for your response.

The bearings i speak of are the rod bearings and in some cases the crank bearings. This is worse case scenario. What wont hurt is to check the valve lash like mentioned!

Wait till the morning and preform a valve lash adjustment, If you rebuilt the engine in any way and did NOT set the valve lash to spec than more than likely your valves are tight or loose

The valve lash adjustment is very easy and the Haynes manual has a step by step procedure with pics. Check the lash and set to spec and start the engine!
