FED ECU work in a CA CB7?
I have a CB7 CA emissions car, I wanted to know the differences between the FED an California Models. Also, will a FED ECU work in a CA Car. I am actually running a CA P-12 Prelude ECU and want to run the FED A02- P-12 ECU.
Will the FED ECU run better than the CA ECU? I am no longer in California.

Generally the CA ECU is looking for a slightly different 02 sensor and running a tighter emissions setup, which is why you have to have the CA exhaust manifold, for example.
If you have an all CA car, you would normally want to run the CA ECU. Otherwise you would switch the ECU and all related items, which I don't think will net you much of anything.

I have a 1993 Accord, I believe the Exhaust Manifolds are all the same on the FED and CA cars. The O2 Sensors are also the same. I think that the only difference is the ECU, I have never seen or ordered any other parts that sepecify FED or CA.
What engine do you have in your Accord?
90-93 US Federal emissions Accords usually run ether a 37820-PT3-AXX (F22A1-4) or the 37820-PT6-AXX (F22A6) depending on what engine you have. There are a few members on CB7tuner.com that say the P12 is a step up for the F22A6 engine over the PT6. There are really no gains running a P12 on the F22A1-4, no issues running one ether. It just won't be able to make use of the fuel and ignition maps for the A6 camshaft, intake and exhaust specs.
All the ECU's that had an "L" as the 9th digit were considered CA emissions, i.e. - 37820-xxx-Lxx. Not sure if they were really any different other than Honda getting them an EPA rating. All the ECU's could have been good enough to make the emissions standard for the time??????

I installed the FED 37820-PT3-A01 and it runs great, actually I think that it starts up faster. I used to need to try start the car two times when it is cold outside. The car fired up first crank within 2 seconds. Makes me think that simply moving RP11 to RP12 in the Automatic ECU is not the most efficient solution for a Manual Transmision.
