F23a1 Engine And MT Questions
Hey guys I’m new here but been scouring the forums for some time. I need some help regarding my engine and manual transmission. I’m new into Honda’s and wanting to get this one back into perfect life (CG6 LX 5pd)
1) What is needed for a full engine rebuild and mt rebuild
2)What is the name of the transmission, I’ve had no luck finding it
3)How reliable is the motor and trans
4)what are possible boost applications and power ratings for properly built motor
i appreciate all help that comes my way!

I'll answer what I can and offer an opinion with it as well.
Overall, the engine and transmission are respectable when left in stock condition. I don't really see either component up to handling much more than a small increase and staying reliable. There are ways to add that little bit more (say 50 horsepower) either through some engine modifications or through a small turbo, but you really don't want to being going nuts on this at all as neither part (engine or transmission) is made for it. For reference, I would say 200 horsepower is where I would keep it at for a target.
But really, if want that horsepower today, just sell your car and get the 6 cylinder version, it's the easier way to get what you want and its' all done.
Remember this is not a platform upon which people normally build race cars. That would be more likely the Civic, a lighter chassis, a much larger following for sport improvements, and lot more discussions on sticking engines in and building them up to higher amounts. And they handle better generally.
This is probably why you are not finding much. The general discussions on here are fixing our cars, not upgrading the cars.
If you really want more horsepower, and it must be in this car, I would choose a completely different engine and transmission entirely before attempting it with this one.
