Is this an automatic or a manual transmission? These, on first glance, sound like two different things, but maybe further questions can give a clue if there is a commonality. A car that will go in one direction but not the other leads me to think you have an issue with the transmission. However, because they are different , with a an automatic Checking the transmission fluid for color that is off, a burnt smell, etc might give a clue. With a manual there would be questions about grinding noises and fluid level. With an automatic there could be some other items suggested.

A no start involves a whole different set of questions: When you put the key in and turn the key, do the dash lights come on? Are there any items blinking and for how long (these usually are error codes), does it turn and turn but never starts? Do you smell fuel? Have you checked the spark in any way? Have you done anything recently besides the main relay in replacement. If you jiggle the key while inserted will the car start then? Have you checked the battery voltage to see if it's sufficient?

Ok I do have an automatic and when this started my car would start no problems, when it started acting up when I tried to shift it into 1st or 2nd or neutral it made that grinding sound like a manual would make didn't sound good.. I definitely need to flush my transmission, also and found out yesterday that I need a new battery. So I did put a good battery on it and my brother said there was no spark also he didn't hear my fuel pump kick on. Should I do the flush or just replace the tranny.

At this point a flush is not going to help, most likely only make it worse. My recommendation is not to waste your money on that. You can check the fluid level and hope that is it, but if it's grinding and the fluid level is fine, damage has been done. There are some tricks people employ that might work in a different scenario, but grinding is "too late" I think.Just replace the tranny.

I feel like a broken record today, but I would get a replacement transmission from Ebay and drop it in. It's really not that hard but I don't know your skill level so it's hard to say. I can say I have done two now for two different accords and we did it in the garage on jackstands, didn't need special equipment to do it. Probably $550 with shipping on average when done on Ebay.

The one above has about 60,000 miles on it

Or check craigslist and local junkyyards. Locally I could get one for about $125 from a pick and pull, but it did have 150,000 miles on it.

Your issue with the spark is different. If you have a good battery, but no spark then you need to check the distributor to make sure it's getting voltage and work backwards or forwards from there. I would guess a ground if it was working, or a cable to the starter is not connected correctly.

If you don't hear the fuel pump, still check at the injectors to see if there is fuel, or loosen the fuel pressure bolt to see if there is fuel there.
