Stripped head bolt time sert
First off hello I have been a lurker but not posting. I was heavily into v6performance site. I have a 98 accord v6 j30a1 that is my so called beater car that I need help with. I had a head gasket failure after long story short I stripped the block on sequence bolt #5. One of the dowel pin holes and I bring that up because I have and extra dowel. The time sert kit for this motor is $500 for a one time use with a car that is worth $1500? I am stuck because I still love this old car. I see they sell a universal kit without a jig for m12x1.5 ($100). I thought may maybe I can rig something up to keep the drill and tap steps straight inside the dowel. Has anyone done something like this? I live in OC California and have reached out to rent a kit with local mechanics with no luck. The car is torn apart in the driveway so I cannot bring it to someone. Does anyone know where I can rent one or have a mechanic with this come by? I am more than capable of doing the work I just need some tool love. Thanks Marc.
Found this place to rent specialty tools for anyone wondering.
