EF CIVIC STARTING ISSUE (Alarm?)
Hey everyone! I’m pretty new to the forms and everything but I figured I’d give it a shot
I have a 91 civic dx with a b18c1 swap. Ever since I bought the car I’ve had an issue where when I turn the key to start the car it will click. It’s not the typical dead battery where it rapid clicks but just one single loud click. If I turn the key on and off 5-10 times the starter will eventually turn the engine over and fire up. I originally thought that the starter itself was the issue so I replaced it but that didn’t help. The car is fitted with a Compustar 2 way remote alarm system as well, I’m thinking that the alarm is possibly causing the car to not start but I’m not great with electronics so I figured I see if anyone had any ideas before I replace another thing that doesn’t need to be replaced.
Cheers!

I had that issue for a long time. Tried replacing the starter and ignition switch. Nothing worked. I ended up wiring in a relay to draw power straight from the battery. I also have an alarm that splices into the ignition switch. It's probably causing a voltage drop.
