This is kinda funny. I found a set of new Maxspeed coilovers for 60 bucks an uncliamed freight store. My si isnt lowered at all or anything... just wondering if you guys think it would be even worth it for 60 bucks? Anyone even have these?

I have them and they are just fine, they use a standard 2.5 inch diameter spring, so if you want custome rates you can order them from someone like eibach. The ones I have a very simular in design to some older skunk models I have seen. I have the stock rates on my del sol at this time and they ride just fine with my KYB AGX's and the car lower about 1.5 to 2.0 inch lower than stock. IF they work you should be fine.

 

I think my car looks so much better lowered. And plus, like everyone else said, if you don't like them, you only lost 60 bucks. Have fun.

 

 

i wouldnt waste the money, if you dont have that much money go with some h&r springs or some eibachs. If you put some cheap springs on your car it will cause it to bounce around like a little rabbit. (the animal not the car)

As long as you don't over-lower, and are using good shocks, they should be fine. Like previously mentioned, if you want to start to play with spring rates, you can use Eibach ERS springs or some Hypercoils to swap them to what you want.

 

It's not so much i dont have that much money. It's just everything i really want to do is too much money... i can afford to lose 60 bucks... The only thing im concerned about is the bounciness... I dont want that. Chances are I would buy them, and install them this spring, since winter is right around the corner. Also then I'd hav emoney for some shocks... I have my ITR sb w/ beaks kit laying around right now also... I'm just suprised i found these at an unclaimed frieght store... there was also a turbo manifold w/ a greddy like flange on it... im not to familiar with it so im not sure of the application. But it does definately look like its for a honda engine. That thing is 30 bucks. There were a couple throttle bodies for 90 bucks look also to be for a honda engine, not sure what engine tho. Also yeah i could sell them to a ricer more than likely....

Also i'm only lowering 1.5 max. Just enough to get rid of my 4x4 look. Unltimately i want a set of ApexiN1 dampers or a tein setup.

go for it...**** for $60 you really cant lose...as long as you dont SLAM iT y0 then you'll be "ok" with some bounce because stock struts dont like to be fully compressed......heh....just lower it 1 1/2" to 1 3/4"......good luck

 

If you don't want bounciness, then make damn well sure you have some good firm shocks in there. It's not the springs, but what controls them (or fails to control them) that makes the ride bouncy.

Save the 60 bucks and get the right ones the first time. Do it all at once rather than piecing it together.

 

I still haven't heard why this is the "wrong" way, when it's obvious that the goal is probably to lower the car so that it can look subjectively better. Like I said, good shocks are the key to the world.
