Working on a 2000 Civic EX, swapped factory deck for a new one. Everything went smoothly except, I now have no dash lights. Already know which wires they are coming from the dimmer switch, but no clue as to what they connect to with the new stereo? PLEASE HELP!!

 

make sure the ORANGE ILLUMINATION wire is properly taped off, if not being used/connected. That's a typical issue people run into. When the key is ignition, that wire will have +12VDC power and can often ground out (blow a fuse) when it comes into contact with metal.

 

Thanks for the input! This stereo doesn't even have the orange illumination wire for which you and about every other article I've read talks about. I have done installs before and do know what you're talking about. Being frustrated AF with how simple a solution to this problem SHOULD BE, just went ahead and jumped the dimmer to bypass it all together. Sure I don't have use of it now, but I do have dash lights once again. And Hey.... Honda dashes from back then aren't that bright anyways. But seriously, appreciate your effort
