You have two switches on your clutch the upper which is hard to get to must be engaged to start the car. The lower sensor (there both yellow bases) is easier to get to, it has a hole in the actual metal part of the pedal where a plastic or rubber grommet to keep the sensor shut. This was the CC knows its ok to engage your cruise. if the switch is peaking through the hole on the pedal you can buy a plastic replacement from auto zone in the weird random section or I have seen people super glue a coin to it. if that is your issue either resolution should work. good luck

Man, your response was good right up until the end where you provided a solution !!! What is with all this "MacGyver" silliness ???

OP, forget the "Glue a Penny on the pedal" or a "Bolt and a Nut" through the hole... this is why it is so darn hard to find clean, fully functioning older Honda's these days. Let's fix it the CORRECT way... shall we ?!?

If the pedal pad is missing on the lower part of the clutch arm/pedal, simply go to your local Honda Parts Department and order part number 46505-SA5-000. They sell for less than $5 each... so buy a few and then you will be prepared for the next one to crack/break. Your car uses three of them for sure... two on the clutch pedal arm and one on the brake pedal arm.

This simple part is usually the culprit when the three following symptoms occur:

1) Brake lights stay on.
2) Car will not start when the clutch pedal is pushed to the floor and the key is turned... but it will roll start.
3) Cruise Control will power up (Cruise Main button will illuminate when pressed) but the car will not hold speed when you depress the "Set" button.

I realize that you responded to a nearly three year old dead thread Biggups... and since your diagnosis was spot on, I won't give you any grief for "Necro-Bumping" this time. Your response... and mine... may very well help someone who Googles this topic in the future.
