Icon7 Solution to popping sound after installation of new struts, mounts and bearings

Background
This is my first attempt to replace my front struts using old springs. Although a lot of studies were made beforehand, still problem occurred. Luckily, I could able to solve the problem next day. I felt desperate and tired when popping sounds were found. Many thanks to the old threads in this forum for helping to solve my problem. I hope by writing this Thread can giving back to all users when facing similar problem.

My work
Part A Removal of struts

Replaced front struts, top mounts, bearings, dust cover
reused old springs

jacked up front part and left both wheels on air,
removed abs sensor wires, brake lines, sway bar end links and finally the struts

Points to note (PTN)when taking out struts
1.support the base of disc with jack so as to release tension for easier bolts removal of struts to car frame
2 use wire / strip to tie the disc to prevent the possible flipping over , CV axle will be pulled out and causes hugh trouble

Part B Dissemble the old strut and take out the old spring

PTN when compressing spring
Mark top mount, spring, base of strut (3 dots) to the side facing directly to u , pay extra attention to how both ends of spring are sitting. I took 20 mins here to take photos, video and marking.
Use only good quality of grip and grip in opposite side only, compress as less as possible.
compare the new and old strut to make it can fit, take photo if need
Use lubricant to metal to rubber contact in strut, silicon based lubricant can do
Bearing don’t upside down, pay attention when dissemble old strut if u plan to reuse the old spring

Part C installing strut
PTN when bolt tighten
prepare Allen key and box wrench for some bolts, such as sway bar end link and strut top bolt
make sure u are jacking up the disc to mimic the suspension is on load when u torque the bolts
Use medium strength thread locker to secure
Most people (from forum) reported they also found cracks on the tie rod end links. Be sure to check and replace. Learn how to check the plate using pry bar in YouTube. You will regret if u skip this step.

Part D Final touch, a secret to differentiate diyer and mechanic
Put the jack off, both front wheels on floor. Now, retighten strut top mount bolts and most importantly, the central nut, that was tightened when assembled the old spring. Only when wheels on floor, the central nut of strut can be truly torqued. It was my lesson leant of the popping sound after installing new struts.

I hope this thread can help you guys.
Good luck and have fun.

Happy new year!
