Default Key replacement

Is it possible to program the key fob for a 2015 Accord EX without going to a dealer? I got suckered buying a used Accord and after the deal was sealed, I was informed there is only one key. After driving a week, the remote battery died. I don’t want to go through that again so want to have a backup. The local dealer wants $350 for a second key.
I’m not inclined to throw money to a dealer. Can I buy a key fob online and program myself?

Not likely something you can do without specialized tools. A new key will need to be programmed to the immobilizer. A locksmith might be able to assist if going to the dealership is out of the question.

Buy a key online(do not buy the cheapest key you can find, its probably junk and wont work properly) and take it to a locksmith or contact a local independent repair shop. (you cant do it yourself)

Depending on your area, you're probably looking at around $200 or so for key and programing.
