What's needed for 94dx mini me swap.d15b7/D16y5 Head??
Hey all someone gave me a D16Y5 head for free. I'm going to get it machined more then likely def do all the valve seals, andseats etc. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Think it's the vtec E head. Looks like it only allows 1 intake valve to open when vtec is working? Or something like that I read last week on here. Any info would gratefully be appreciated thanks.
It is a vtec-e motor, OBD2. The way it operates is only 1 valve opens fully when vtec is not operating and when vtec kicks in under higher load and/or higher rpm, it causes the 2nd intake valve to open fully with the first.
I'm not sure the B7 block will be a good mate for the head due to the flat piston design and the bump in compression. I believe the D16Y5 block has dished pistons for little lower compression ratio.
Non the less, you will need a chip able ecu so an OBD1 ecu and you will have to get it tuned to run half way decently. You probably won't see the same fuel economy due to the higher compression ratio.

Yea I just rebuilt the B7 head. If this head is redone how much do you think I could get for it? Sounds like swapping the head would be a waste of time and money. Better off throwing a daul cam in it.
