Fuel pouring out of filler neck after fill up
Well, in two days I'll be driving my cheap '87 CRX across the country. I have most of the issues sorted, but I still have one nagging issue that I'd like to address. When I fill the tank (making sure not to overfill), I can put the gas cap on without any fuel coming out. Then, when I go to start it, fuel will pour out of the filler neck from the gas cap. It spits out a LOT of fuel. From what I know about the car, the previous owner just put in a new fuel pump. Does anyone have any ideas of what could cause this? I have checked the return lines and they look to be in order (not kinked, no leaks). Bad gas cap seal? Bad fuel pump seal? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
the vent hose must be clogged
or maybe someone blocked it off
the purpose of the vent hose is just that
to vent
if you block that hose your car will do exactly what its doing right now
normally your vent hose goes to your throttle body
thats where id start looking
goodluck
