New member recently joined after lurking on and off over the last few years.

I have seen often enough posts of the VTEC solenoid - oil pressure switch going bad to know it is fairly common. I probably ended up here as a result of searching how to fix that. Now over the last couple years, I can literally replace it with a 10mm and a blindfold on. It is on a 2007 Element SC (FWD). I have pretty good maintenance and upkeep on it, although I admit not what I would call "religiously maintained".

The problem is the dang thing keeps going out. I have replaced it 6 time in two years and have tried the honda certified parts and each of the aftermarket ones I could find. They just keep going out though so I am thinking there is a bigger issue. Two of them went out the day after I changed the oil for the last two oil changes, so that was strange. Now I have have one bad again after just replacing a few weeks ago.

The Honda cert part did last the longest (about 10 months) however. I was thinking maybe there is a sludge issue with the engine, but when I get the oil changes is when they go out the most and they never have any gunk or debris or anything other than oil in the little screen on the solenoid. Just another FYI is also have to replace O2 sensor, so I have that code also. Does not pull any other codes, so the honda dealership says they do not know when I have it replaced and the code clears.

Anyone else ever have this and resolved it...or any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
