JRSC D16A6 Set up question
HI Everyone.
I am new here. I have searched high and low but have not found the info I am looking for. Apologize in advance if i am asking for easy info....
I have a 1989 EF Civic Si, D16A6, bone stock. I have access to a JRSC model 989-100 which is for the EG ( D16Z6 ) if I understand correctly. My questions.
1) Will this unit work on the A6? I understand I will need to pay attention to pulley alignment, but does everything else "work". I have the manual for the A6 ( 989-000 ) and there are some differences.... is it just a matter of blocking off a couple holes?
2) The unit does not come with the FMU which i understand is not so great anyhow. Is a PM6 chipped or socketed ECU the appropriate start if I want to stay OBD0? If so, bigger injectors are required, is this correct?
3) Assuming the above are true, for the installation, would I just install exactly according to the JRSC instructions for the A6 and simply eliminate the FMU installation. Would I still set the timing to 10BTC as per the instructions. Would I still need to add the resistor to the TA ( air temp ) sensor wires?
If anyone has experience with this process for the A6, I would greatly appreciate your input. I've been having a hard time finding a concise, objective, fact based directive on how to make this work.
Thanks in advance!
Luke

thats alot of questions in one post buddy
but i do have some answers for you
first
yes the unit will bolt up and it will work once you get the pulley to line up properly
second
no your pm6 wont work properly with the supercharger
UNLESS YOU PLAN ON RUNNING 2 to 3 pounds of boost only
if you want to run more boost you will need to convert to obd1
and run a engine management system
the main reason for this is because your stock map sensor is going to go nuts once it reads the superchargers air pressure
and you cant switch map sensors unless you get a ecu that can read the boost sadly
third
when i had my supercharger on my crx back in 2006
i remember going with 1996 eagle talon injectors and upgrading my fuel pump also the fpr was upgraded
i was running 6 pounds of boost with my set up
fourth
i never messed with my timing when i had my set up
and i ran it for 4 years
heres a set up of what your doing
not the same motor but everything else would be the same for you
if you have any more questions feel free ^_-

you will also need a 92/up throttle body as the A6 throttle body won't bolt to the intake for the Z6 - different bolt hole locations
since you have an 89 A6, you need to verify the diameter of the front snout on the crankshaft where the crank pulley goes on - all 88 A6 and some 89 A6 engines used a crankshaft with a smaller diameter front snout - the crank pulley for the Z6 is for the larger diameter snout and won't work with the smaller snout - this can be a problem!!
to get more boost on the JRSC supercharger, you need a different diameter pulley on the supercharger - the amount of boost is determined by the speed of the supercharger - some of the parts for the early JRSC are available from:

attached are installation instructions and parts list for the model 989-100 supercharger for the D16Z6
