My name's Kiret, residing in the United Kingdom since birth. My day job is an Assembly Fitter for a machine manufacturer. I photograph cars and talk about how I feel about them too.
Car history in photos:-
19 year old; first mode of personal transport. Don't worry, it got better...
Couldn't afford the Type R, neither would I have been happy with the Euro / 8th gen model in the R guise. Chassis wasn't great, as we all know. Still, a cool car, I lowered it on Eibach springs, cat-back by Invidia, Type R rear centre light, and then hydro-locked the engine driving through a "puddle" with an Injen CAI [bad idea putting that on a road car]. Long story short, bent a rod, blew a hole in the block, swapped another R18 engine back into it, and then parted ways...
Best gateway drug into driving for the sheer enjoyment of it. Best car I've owned [obviously], but decided on not turning my daily driver into a project. Plus, over here, salty roads eat up Japanese metal. My MX-5 was in good shape for something with 80k+ miles on it, but it wouldn't last long driving it through multiple winters...
And here is the daily I've had since the beginning of last year. Listen, if you've never driven one, don't judge haha.
So, I guess I am here because I'm picking up where I left off in 2016/17, when I originally intended on buying an EK/EJ hatch at a time the B16 VTis weren't highly priced. I was persuaded not to buy one because rust and I regret not biting the bullet. Maybe the timing wasn't right, I dunno, whatever. I've recently obtained a K20A from a guy who was breaking his DC5 Type R. Its a long block, minus a few things. Now I am on a hunt for a Civic with minimal rust within my budget.
My goal for the K-swap will be a fun car for both road and track, a healthy balance. I want to keep to as OEM as possible with the engine, I'm not chasing numbers on the dyno. Keep power steering, maybe figure out a way to retain the AC aswell [apparently a challenge/impossible in RHD cars].
Thanks for reading, let's VTAK.
