I have a 2008 Honda Civic LX sedan automatic transmission with 105,000 miles. I went to change my cv axles and have struggled. The old seals were a nightmare to get off and the new ones were a nightmare to get in, and straight. But my main issue is that there is a space between my new cv axles and the transmission.
I spent about 4 hours trying to seat the new cv axles, but there was still an inch between the transmission and the cv axle. I eventually took them out and removed the c rings and replaced them with the c rings from the old cv axles. This seemed to do the trick. About 3 more hours and I was able to seat both cv axles. However, there is still a small space between the cv axles and the transmission (about 1/8th inches, maybe 3/16th inches at the most). I used a rubber mallet and got them to go in, but I'm still not sure if they are seated as deep as they should be. I have attached photos if anyone can give their opinion. I did line them up with the old axles and they looked the same. Was I supposed to hear a click, because I did not hear any click when I hammered them in. Any tips would be appreciated. I saw many videos online showing how easy putting in new axles was, but this has been an absolute nightmare for me. See attached photos, the first two are the passenger side, other 2 are driver's side. Thanks!
