1991 D16a6 swap Timing issues in 90 std hatch
Hey guys got a few issues that I’ve been trying to research but haven’t successfully came up with any solution so I’m coming to you guys the experts for advice and a possible solution.
i Have a 1990 civic hatchback std model which was previously dpfi and was a 4 speed.
I recently picked up a 1991 D16a6 from a Crx si that ran great.
So I did the swap and the car started great. Conversion went well and was simple because I used a Monotech harness which made the Mpfi conversion plug and play. I use this as a commuter car so when I was traveling home one day the bearing in my distributor went. Now here’s when the issue began. I bought a 90 dollar dizzy off of rock auto. I know you have to adjust the ignition timing so I pinned out the service connector so the ecu wouldn’t try to adjust it.
I know there’s 3 marks and 1 mark to the right on the pulley. The 3 marks represent ignition timing and the 4th mark to the right is TDC. I know you have to have the dizzy lined up with the middle mark of the 3 with a timing gun. The problem is all my timing marks for the belt line up, for the cam and crank pulley and timing cover. I have to have the dizzy rotated all the way to the firewall which I believe is all the way adavanced, and it just barely meets the middle mark on the pulley when I use the timing gun. I know the dizzy shouldn’t be all the way one way to set ignition timing. The car has a deff sign of power loss from before. I’m still obd0 I’m still using a stock header and 02 sensor is in the correct place. I also bought the more expensive Cardone distributor from rock auto thinking my dizzy was bad but it just adjust to the same position and won’t let me adjust anymore. Timing gun can’t be adjusted, so I’m at a loss now. Not sure exactly where to look next any ideas?

thanks for the pic i actually used this as a reference but all my marks so far line up on the cam when I have everything set. It’s very strange I will try and post pics later tonight cause I’d really like to get this solved.
