I am need of some new wheels for my 1991 Civic DX Hatch and after not being able to find any stock sized (175/70R13) wheels i found a good set with 185/65R14s and was wondering if these would fit without any modification?
The tires will be fine, you'll still have a lot of room. Whether the wheels themselves fit will depend on the offset. Too far inboard (high positive offset) is likely to cause issues. It may be stamped on the wheel somewhere. Simplest way to check is to compare the depth from the mating surface (to the hub) to the inboard edge of the wheel/rim.
You should pay more attention to the wheel specs than the tire size if you're wondering what fits.
Bolt pattern is 4x100.
Offset from -45 to -35 is fine.
13"-17" is known to fit in most cases. But I think what you're finding is a lack of selection of tires in 13", only marginally better at 14", widest selection of tires at 15" and even 16" is more popular now.
Tire widths from 5" to 7" will be ok, mostly.
you can always play with tire aspect ratio, doesn't have to match OEM size. And tire width should match somewhat wheel width, within a close margin.
So you need to be more specific if you're asking what fits.
