after 500 hundred hours of labor into my dream
project car (1996 hatch) it was time to put it on the road
the day it was going to get insured was the day my fuel, evap, and brake line all burst underneath the car.
they were completely rotted out.
I was doing research on how it goes to replace these lines and not many other people have done it. 98% people send their cars to shops to have it done. I’m one of those guys who needs to do everything by themselves.
I refuse to drop the subframe in my hatch, I will not pull my engine out again.
I was looking to reroute all of these lines- but nobody has posted about it before.
i have braided stainless steel lines for the fuel feed, return, evap- and stainless steel lines for brakes. Has anybody ever completely rerouted these lines before? Anybody find a way on how to replace them without dropping the subframe?
it looks like i’m going to need to drop the fuel tank to do this job as well. Major pain in the a**.
ok. i just ordered braided stainless steel lines for the brakes. i bought them from valex racing. they claim that it runs from the proportioning valve to the rear brakes. this will eliminate my need to use a tube bender and flare tool (butthurt because i bought these tools from eastwood. VERY EXPENSIVE!!).
I will keep this thread updated as I replace all of these lines is braided stainless steel ones.
When i rerouted mine i was using a fuel line tuck kit. Which consisted of a 6an feed and 8an return. Both fit between the body and subframe while i was running the lines. I no longer had my brake lines in that little pocket in the subframe. I ran my brake lines from the center of the subframe then back behind the trans mount then it went off to the side of the chassis underneath. Never had an issue.
