Default Axles on a 95 del sol

So I attempted to replace CV axles on a 95 del sol, not the first time ive done it, did it to my 92 civic a while back. First off im pretty sure its normal but i dont remember it happening with the civic, when i pulled the drivers side shaft out a bunch of trans oil came out. Not sure if i just drained oil beforehand on my car and dont remember it or what. Anyways when I go to put the new driver side axle in(the longer one) this thing will just NOT seat properly. I counted splines and its the right axle just when i go to slide it in it wont mate all the way up to the trans. Is there a special way to do this??

Idr doing my half shafts well enough to remember if i had to drain the trans or not.

Compare new and old parts are the spline sections the same length on the new axle? If so you may just need to push a lil harder, they pop in iirc.
