95 Accord continues to smoke after replacing cylinder head
Hello once again Honda-tech community!
I could use some more experienced advice.
Some back story:
Replaced water pump, tensioners, timing belt successfully. Car ran without smoking, took the car to get some gas while flushing the cooling system with distilled water and prestone coolant cleaner. Then noticed slight head gasket leak. Decided to tackle head gasket (should've let it be 😆.
Got everything back on however did not have proper tension on belt and valves made contact with pistons (occurred at idle). Replaced with a junkyard head, however did not have properly resurfaced, nor pressure checked (this car was purchased to learn mechanics but end goal was to have an operating vehicle on a budget). Everything put back on for second time and exhaust was blowing white smoke profusely, however no oil in coolant vice versa.
Took off head again and obvious signs of coolant in the pistons. Chalked it off to head not being surfaced or pressure checked. Found remanufactured cylinder head on allied motorsports that would've been cheaper to order in first place rather than junk head and taking that to machine shop.
Anyways, purchased new gasket, new head bolts, intake manifold gasket and installed everything. Used proper torque spec and tightening sequence on head. IM nuts I could only hand tighten but made sure were very snug. Still heavy amounts of white smoke blowing.
When I've taken the head off I've left the intake manifold on. However, doing so makes installation of the head trickier? I must insert the studs into the manifold before aligning the dowel pins into the block. This has caused some slight scratches on the block where the dowel pins would sit (scratches do not catch the nail). Also lightly copper sprayed the head gasket to try and fix this potential problem.
Is this the correct way to install the head gasket or could this somehow be causing an error on my part affecting the coolant passages despite aligning the dowel pins correctly?
Is my issue with the intake manifold gasket as I have discovered there is a passage to the IM and head?
Could my block have a hairline crack that I missed. I did look at the walls of the cylinders and did not see any signs of cracking?
I've also done an oil change to full synthetic but I'm almost certian the oil would not cause that amount of smoke.

You said there was a leak in the beginning of your story. You also got your new head and so you know that's straight. However, did you check the block itself to see if there needed to be any warpage there? It might not be level and is the source of the issue.

Come to think of it I do not believe I checked the block for flatness. Will the block warp over time if car was not over heated. This leak that I tlnoticed was behind the engine on the bottom corner of the cam gear.
Is there anything I could test before I take the head off again? Will an offset head gasket show signs of major loss of compression if I did a cylinder compression test?

Well.....I think if you have a bad leak and white smoke from the start, I would presume you should be able to see this in the form of a leak that's visible when pressure testing. However, if it takes awhile before the white smoke happens, then that sounds heat related and might only be visible if you can test it as soon as it is hot enough.
Other than white smoke in the engine chamber, I can't see any other leak producing white smoke.
