Replace Rear Motor Mount
I have a 2009 Accord EX-L Sedan 4-cyl. I need to replace the rear motor mount. I’m fairly new to car work, but can follow instructions or a good video. I did the front motor mount this spring. I supported the engine using a floor jack and a 2X4 on the oil pan. I was able to do that job. Had to raise the engine a bit to get the bolts to line up.
Looking at the rear mount, I’m not sure exactly what needs to be done to get that one out. The main bolt on top that goes through the mount and bracket, after I pull that out it still seems like I will not be able to get at one of the bolts because the bracket is covering it on the passenger side. And there doesn’t seem to be enough clearance. Do I have to remove the silver bracket that that top bolt goes through? It looks like the bracket bolts into the engine but I can’t see by looking at. Or without removing that bracket, could I get that bolt out with a swivel (is that a universal joint) it looks like I may not have enough room to get at this bolt.
Is there a write up on this site? I couldn’t find one by searching? Or could anyone give me some tips and or pictures or diagram on how to do this? Also, when doing this job would I support the engine by the oil pan or the transmission for this job?
Thanks for any help that you guys can offer!
