95 civic dx doesnt start but tries to
Ok so i will add videos and pictures to help explain further. My buddy and i have been working with this vehicle for a while. At first we did all the head gaskets. We then changed the rack and pinion and the front tie rod ends. But in the process of changing the head gaskets i accidentally broke the coolant temperature sending unit and my buddy broke the fuel injector connector but not completely and i ended up just pushing the temp sending unit together just to see if it would run And we super glued the injector connector just to get it running for now. So we ended up trying to start it and it started just fine. I pulled it out the garage and let it sit in the driveway to monitor it before test driving it. We noticed the temp on the dash wasnt going up but other than that it sounded and looked normal. I ended up turning it off and put it back in the garage to do a little more work. I was just planning on getting a new temperature sending unit and even though it didnt seem like a problem i still wanted to change the fuel injector connector.
I easily replaced the fuel sending unit however the fuel injector connector was a bit of a headache. The fuel injector itself was different than all the others i could fine at the auto part stores and the junkyards. I couldnt find the original injector that was in my vehicle and my dumba** accidentally broke the original the rest of the way. So i ended up just using the one i was finding at the junk yards on the same year make and model. So i changed the injector and the connector and spliced the wires together. It fit just as well as the other injectors. I put everything together and tried to start it. It would try and try to turn over. And if i give it some gas it will run but i have to keep giving it gas cause once i stop the vehicle dies. It also has a very rough idle when it does start. Here is what im kinda thinking...
I did move the distributor a few times and me and my buddy are thinking it might be off timing thats why it has such a rough idle. My little research showed that the fuel injectors run off like 1/1000th of a second so the one i picked up might just be off from the others.
Once i get it running i am planning on giving it a major tune up. So far i have done what is described and i did a fluid flush.
* side note there was a major oil leak do to the main head gasket being torn. I went ahead and replaced all the upper head gaskets. Went as far as to removing the camshaft but no further. So we replaced the gaskets 100% up to that point. And there is no more leaks wich is pretty satisfying.
I am not at all mechanicly inclined at all. However my buddy is ASE certified or whatever. He works at a dealer ship but he is still young and of course there is always room to learn. We both were doing this as a hobby but now we just want it to run and get over this hiccup
