Default 2001 swap to 2000..vise versa

I have a blown up 2001 civic ex auto. I also have a 2000 civic ex 5spd. Needs brake lines, fuel lines, suspension, exhaust(cat missing).. was wondering if I could use the parts off the 2001 to fix my 2000. Or possibly do another swap to get the 2000 running

Nope... not easily anyway. The 2000 Civic and the 2001 Civic are two totally different chassis.

Yeah, unfortunately 2 different generations, quite different.
a 1999 and 2000, yes, a 2000 and 2001 , no.

Would I be able to use any of the parts? Suspension, lines. Exhaust..etc?

And would I be able to do a swap? Put the d16y8 in the 2001? Or could I use the d17 head on a d16 block? Hkw does that work? I'm new to this Honda swap. I just dont have mechanic references to do a rebuild.. I have a 97 ex as well, was gonna use to fix 2000

It seems to be a common swap over seas, this post is from Pakistan where they swap in the newer gen CF swap into a EG chassis, I like the idea as it has coils, Vtec and $150 cheaper than the D16A replacement but I have no clue on whats needed and how they get it running,

Only bad thing is that those motors have aluminum heads...prolly the best motor I've had, but it's a single jingle with like 109 HP I think... anyway, where can I find DIY threads on how to fix problems and swap and what not?

Over here, you can't just swap the head from the D17 to a D16 or D15. The oil return holes are in totally different spots.

And the D17 is a non supported beast as it doesn't see any gains from even simple bolt on. The chassis was changed enough that even a B series swap is not easy. I suspect as the mount locations differ considerably. This would pose a problem for you moving the motors around between chassis/cars.

Really the D17 is an unliked beast in North America. Maybe in Pakistan they are closer in design to not be an issue and work out well over there. We've noted several things different in their cars compared to ours. Like the D16 being carb instead of fuel injected etc. 98 still being OBD1 not OBD2 etc.
