I'm new to this forum and am looking for a little help on my 2010 Honda ruckus.
I had my ruckus through college and now a few years removed its time to get it back up and running to mess around with it a little bit then inevitably sell it for more "adult" purchases. It has relatively low miles (around 2500-3000). About 3 years ago the electric start stopped working and other minor problems started to emerge but nothing major and it still kick-started. Then about 2.5 years ago it got hit by a car (while parked and no one on it) which bent the wheel and it sat for about 6-8 months until I got around to fixing it up. At this point, it wouldn't crank on at all. I cleaned the carb, put in a new battery, and got it running again. The only issue was the electric start still didn't work and the lights seemed to not get power unless I was gassing it and even then they would sputter. The other (main) issue, was that when I would be riding it, it would seem to randomly lose power and kick back in while driving. This mainly happened when accelerating from a stop. Then after going out of town for about a week and a half, I couldn't get it to start back up at all.
I was thinking that the carb is probably gummed up again and my fuel lines are bad. I planned to rebuild the carb and install new fuel lines. Along with drain and put in new oil and gas.
For reference, the scooter has been sitting in a garage for about 1.5-2 years now.
My question to everyone is, do you think a carb rebuild plus new fuel lines and new gas and oil will get it back running? Or what else do you suggest?
The electrical is a separate issue so any advice on that is also very appreciated.
