Had a close encounter with a road sign. Took off driver side mirror and put some good dents and scrapes in the door – see pictures. Replacing the mirror was an easy job. Now what to do with the dents and scrapes. Before this the exterior was unblemished.
The estimate from my body shop to pound out the dents and prime/pain/clear coat/blend with rest of door is way too high, approximately $1,200. I can live with the dents, but want to avoid future rust and cover the spots with primer/paint/clear coat.
I’m not sure filling in the dents with bonda makes any sense. But I am open to suggestions.
What is the best way to do this since it is more than just scratches? Any good online videos of someone doing this?
Or asked another way, what would you do if it was your car?
Re: Close Encounter With Road Sign – Best Way To Fix?
A door will be around $300 but it will be a bare shell. You will need to swap the guts of your door to the new door. Can be time intensive and you probably need to remove the front fender to access the hinges. Still a good solution if you are handy with a wrench.

I did consider another door, but ones in good shape are going for $700+. Then there is the added cost if the door is not the same color, or I have to swap in the existing door components (not something I could do). As with my body shop estimate ($1,200), this is basically, a non-starter for me.
But thanks for the suggestions.
