Default Bearing thickness - 5th gen D series

Just to confirm my understanding, the color codes go from thinnest bearing to thickest in the order of Red, Pink Yellow, Green, Brown, Black, Blue?

Does anyone know the size difference between the colors?

Looking at King bearing they say the max thickness of their STD bearings for this motor are 1.509mm. I need to find out what thicknesses I need being Honda is discontinuing all there old D series bearings in North America.

Yes, from thinnest to thickest IS Red, Pink, Yellow, Green, Brown, Black and Blue. The approximate change in thickness between colors is .0002" (two ten thousandths).

If say pink is available and green is available and yellow is not. Is it acceptable to use one half pink and one half green to get the equivalent of a yellow?

No. It is acceptable in some instances to use two halves that are ONE color apart... but not TWO apart. Remember that if your application requires a yellow bearing for example, remember that using a pink will open the oil clearance by two tenths and using a green will close the oil clearance by two tenths. Depending on the intended use of the engine, tighter or looser clearances will be advantageous. There is much to consider.

Where did you see that Honda is discontinuing D-series bearings? That's a bummer. It makes sense though...they just recently discontinued the Y8 oil pump.

Here's what my notes show for bearing thicknesses. I built a Z6, so not 100% sure, but I think Y8 uses the same size bearings.

Talking to Honda parts department. Some are already discontinued, some are on backorder which may very likely turn into discontinued.

Honda Japan typically has better parts availability. See if you can get what you need from Amayama. Shipping can be pricey with the pandemic though but its very reasonable normally.

That was the idea, in theory the clearance would match the yellow. However the hole center would be off by 2 ten thousands of an inch. I was wondering if that would be a deal breaker and you say it is. Even though widening the hole or closing the hole by 2 ten thousands of an inch is acceptable.

I may look into Amayama, never heard of them before. I was thinking about getting a couple sets of king bearings and measure, see if they have any variance in thickness. Maybe be able to piece it together. I saw one place a set of king bearings was 20 usd. Not sure the shipping though.
