1991 Honda Accord can it take a full sized spare?
Hi,
I'm new to Honda and this forum. I have a 1991 Honda Accord Coupe.
It has the stock steel wheels and standard stock sized tires.
In the trunk is one of those small temporary spare tires. That are good for 50 miles and a slow speed.
Better then no spare, but not by mutch.
I live in the rual Arizona area. I could get a flat 100+ miles from anywhere.
So, really like a full sized spare. I know I can give up the trunk space and just carry one. But I don't want to give up the space.
Will a full sized tire fit on the spare tire space. The tire and rim would be the OEM stock size.
I thank you for the help.

You know, I never had a problem with extended spare use. I do not see 100 miles being out of the question. Hundreds of miles on an incorrect alignment would be needed to destroy it.
I've seen a few people wanting full size spares for a variety of reasons. Often the easiest is to put the full size spare in there, measure the additional height, then add spacers and drop the flooring back on top, this way it's level, but just a little higher. Some people go so far as to replace it with a wood panel instead of the flexible carboard. I've also seen (looks less elegant but works), people simply cut a hole over where the tire sticks up, and then creates a cover over it, so you end up with a bump in the trunk.
Going in a different direction, I have see people take the spare off and put on a (I think a volkswagon bug) regular tire on it vs the spare tire. I have no detail on what tire that ended up being.

Thank you for the information. I just hate the idea of those temporary spares.
I really wanted to know if a full size would fit on the indent/hole area made for the temporary spare.
So if I'm understanding the above it will fit in the space, but depending in the tire width it most likely will not fit hight wise. So, as stated you live with a hump, or make a new cover.
I think I would live with the hump, but if one did make a custome floor to get the added hight needed you could make a hidden shallow storage space.
