Default More questions for those with turbos....

For the kit I'd like to get, I need to have a "piggy back" fuel management system. Can someone tell me what that would be? What would you guys recommend to use? I'm new to this turbo stuff and I want to do things right the first time. Every distributor of turbo kits I've talked too seems to know less about them than me. thanks again

you dont need to have a piggy back FMU. It is best to have standalone FMU. A piggy back system is just spliced into your ecu. I recommend Hondata

well what do you want to know?
First thing you should ask yourself is what are your HP goals? do you just want some little kick on the street or are you looking for lots of HP for the track?
Also Fuel Management isnt that hard there are lots of them out there like the hondata, or AEM pms etc etc, the thing you should look at are the tuners around you area. Are there tuners that can reprogram system? and if there arnet are you willing to self tune? or drive an extra distance to go to a shop that will tune your car?

For just some little pep on the street i highly recommend the greddy turbo kit. It truely a bolt on kit. The FMU with the kit is ok but replacing it with hondata would be a good idea.

max rev kit
rev hard
drag kit

are some of the most well know kits around this board.
Also expect to pay close to $5,000 for turbo kit plus other parts that you will need to buy.

Turbo is fun but its not a joke its seriously alot of trouble and work to get everything running right. It just takes alot of time and patients and of course some money.

If i were you i would do some more reading in the FI forum... good luck and if you have anything to ask me just PM me.

Marc

if you plan on boosting a safe amount of boost... you will be fine with whatever fuel management you get with the kit. if you plan on running any kind of fuel management, standalones like Hondata and AEM EMS are good systems.

depending on what type of kit youre gettin... maintenance... and how good the install is... you should be fine with what you put together.

dont take this personally but if you dont know how forced induction works and what needs to be upgraded so on and so forth it may not be a wise decision to turbo your teg unless $ is not a factor for you, try going na or jrsc is a safe bet, but a turbo requires some knowledge for maintaing the well being of the car, just my 2 cent. =

people like me are willing to learn and do what it takes to learn about turbo kits and what needs to be upgraded on their cars. knowledge is power and in my case i know how they work what needs to be added to the exhaust wise and hondata but everything else i'm trying to learn. so, if there is anyone how has some time to email me and help me out i would appreciate it. lopez.anthony.m@ewtgpac.navy.mil
how do we know how to do things unless we get help.
