Default Manual Swap ECU differences

Hello all, I’m here for answers before I spend 250+ on a new(refurbished) ecu.

My question is: Are there any differences between the P06-A01 and the P06-L01 other than the California emissions.

Back story: What I’m doing is swapping my 93 eg dx AT to manual. The ECU I have is the P06-L51. Ive already rebuilt the s20 from a 92 dx d15b7 I bought to swap the auto out with. Im committed to the manual swap do there’s no going back.

The plan now is to see how well I can do this swap before I go all out and do anything major. It’s going to stay all stock as I’m going to drive it across the country (WA to FL) here very soon and I want to use it and not my truck for the sake of mpg.

Will I be able to swap in the A01 or because I have the cali version should I get the L01?

If I stick with the A01 are there any other mods I’ll need?

I have searched the forums and if I missed the differences, my apologies I read through a great deal and don’t see any significant differences (other than maybe the o2 sensor?) but I’m turning to the experts. Thank you all for reading I hope you all can help!

Edit: I should add that I’ve seen similar questions asked about other ECUs but don’t know all of the nuances involved in swapping ECUs.

You can convert your current A/T P06 ECU to a manual P06 ECU with some straightforward soldering.
