Major oil leak after dealer service
Wow, that filter is really damaged badly. Good luck. What year is your CR-V? The dealer is going to say that you ran over something on the road. They are not going to reimburse you for oil stain on your driveway, and I doubt they will reimburse you for the tow. As far as damage to the engine, you'd have to prove that they caused the damage. My guess is without proof they will not do anything.
Just had my own negative experience at a Honda dealer a couple of days ago. I do my own repairs, except I can't do an alignment or wheel balancing. I would normally go to other places for that, but the Honda dealer had a special on alignment and wheel balancing, so I would save time by getting both done at the same place. I explicity told the service advisor that I wanted the spare tire/wheel on the tailgate to be balanced as well as the other wheels. When they were finished, I noticed the spare was mounted in the exact same position as when I brought it there. There's a what.....one in five chance of that? The service advisor said they put the wheel back in the same position. Um....OK. I then questioned if she was absolutely sure the spare was balanced. Oh yes, for sure, she even talked with the technician. Okaaaay. I also pointed out that the technician made notes of the tread depth of all four tires, but did not make note of the tread depth of the spare. She said they don't norally do that. Hmmm. After going home I took a closer look at the wheels. All four of them had shiny new balancing weights attached to the rims either on the outside and/or inside rims. The spare wheel had the same old weight on the outside rim. I took it off and saw no new weight on the inside rim either. That wheel was one I got at the junkyard and I reused my original tire, so the tire and that wheel were never balanced together previously, which means the odds of the wheel with the weight in that exact position balancing with a tire that was never on it when the weight was installed was very slim. I was pretty sure the service advisor was either mistaken, or lying to me. Having no faith in the Honda dealership after making an issue of it with them, I went the next day to my local Sam's Club tire center. I asked them to check the spare wheel to see if it was balanced. They noted on the paperwork that the tire was out of balance (and they then proceeded to balance it). I then went to the Honda dealer and calmly complained to them about it. It was another service advisor who was there the previous day and had heard my entire conversation with both of the other service advisors, so he knew about the situation. I asked to be reimbursed for my money I paid to Sam's Club. He apologized for the spare not being balanced but said it was impossible to reimburse me. I then said "OK, then have my car washed." He agreed to have the interior vacuumed and have the vehicle washed and tires shined. I agreed, but pointed out that the service he offered was more expensive than just reimbursing me what I paid Sam's Club (only $3.88). He again stated a reimbursement was impossible. Fine. I also tipped the young guy who came back with my car after cleaning it.
My point is that you are very unlikely to get cash from the dealership (unless you have rock solid evidence).
I wish you good luck. Do let us know what happens. I've got my popcorn.
