Can I put install a computer from junkyard without flashing?
Hey fellas, daughter's car, 2000 civic dx, is acting up. It's been giving different sensor codes despite me replacing the sensor. Now the latest issue is when putting the car in drive, the D starts flashing on the dash and the car will rev high but barely move. Well I pulled the negative battery cable to erase the codes then it drives fine again for a day or 2 then it'll start acting up again.
I'm thinking it could be a computer issue. My question is if I go pick up a used one from the junkyard, is it just plug and play or do I have to get it flashed?

I have, I had this same issue about 4 months ago with the flashing D. I cleared the code and it ran fine since. Now it's doing it again, but when I clear the code it's fine. That's why I don't believe it's an actual transmission issue. The computer throws random codes every now and again and when I clear it, the same code usually doesn't come back, but a different one will
You can remove and open up the PCM and check if there are any blown/leaking capacitors or burnt resistors. Many times these can be replaced .
If the PCM has damage and you can't repair it, you can get a compatible PCM from a junkyard, etc. to replace without any reprogramming. There is no Immobilizer System in these like later models.

92-93 accords have similar issue that is pretty common and its resistors in the ECU, you can take the cover off and see if anything is burnt, cracked, or leaking
If you get one from the junk yard, if you get the same ecu you should be able to swap it in you will need one from 99 or 00, to use with out a conversion harness, I believe the plugs are different from obd2a to obd2b, I am not 100% as I am an obd1 guy
96-98 obd2a
99-00 obd2b
