Help, drivers seat belt will not latch into place
Hi, on my 1991 Accord LX 2dr,the drivers seat side belt just started to not work.
It's the part that the belt goes into that has the release button on it. When I try to Lach the belt it will not go in. It's like something is blocking it.
Anyone know of this and can the latching part (between the drivers seat and hand brake) be fixed? Or do I go looking for a good condition used one to replace it with.
It just started doing it today. And the metal part that goes into the Lach will not go in enough to Lach. It goes in maybe a quarter of an inch and then it's like something is blocking it.
I thank you a for you kind help.

I suspect that it's better to replace it. When mine started acting up, I probably dicked with it for hours to get it working, only to have it fail again not much later. taking off the side pieces, unscrewing and putting in a new one is much faster. Or like you said, grab it from a junnkyard, I think I got mine off ebay.
Well what do you know. Honda puts a lifetime warranty on the seat belts.
Just talked to the closest Honda Dealer (about an hour 15 min., away). If the seat belt Lach just stopped working or broke without any outside thing braking it (like it just died), Honda will replace it for free. Parts and labor!
Can't beat that!

Tell us how it goes! The look on their face when you come in with a 30 year old car and say "I have a warranty claim"
The bet part will be if they have the parts in stock!

The service guy was great. At first he said I had to come in and have them see it was not working. Then they would order the part and give me a service appointment.
I asked if I could avoid the first part and just have them order the part etc. He looked into it and said yes, they would order the part and call me when it came in.
They were not shocked or surprised. They knew the belts are guaranteed for life.
I would like to say this dealer does not know me and I have never walked into the place.
Now that is Service!
