1991 Accord auto transmission shifting into D4
Hi, my 1991 Accord has the 4 speed auto transmission. When I go to shift into D4 from park, reverse, or neutral, by just pushing the shift lever towards D4 (pushing the selector back towards the rear if the car) the shifter automatically stops at the D3 position. I then have to push it back up to D4.
I'm new to Hondas only have had the Accord for a month.
Is this normal or should it stop in D4 and not D3?
It goes back up to D4 with no issues. On the dash all the selector position lights show accept D4 does not light up. I do not know if it's related to this issue or not. I'm assuming it's not related and is just a burnt out bulb.
So folks, is it not stopping in D4 normal, and I need to just remember to push it up from D3?
Car runs great. Just did the timing belt and so on. Did find out that whom ever was working on it did not know what a torque wrench was, and apparently believe the tighter the better. So I replaced a lot of bolts that had been over tightened.
Will be doing a tune up soon.
But like I said car runs great. About 260,000 miles on it.
As always thank you.
