So my question is this if i have a p28 ecu for a 92-95 civic and chip it with a basemap/tuned chip for a b20 will the ecu run the engine as if it was a b20 non vtec. I know i can just by or get a p75 by im just curious (this my be a stupid question) new to ecu chipping/tuning

The reason you chip and/or convert to VTEC an ECU, basically making it programmable, is to be able to run any other motor and cylinder head combination (B,D,F or H series) as all motor, turbo, supercharged or nitrous. In your case the P28 ECU which is for a 92-95 D16Z6 engine, once chipped will allow you to put a B20 basemap on the chip and with the proper tuning, run that engine as if the ECU was made for it.
