Motor is a b18c1, cliff notes... I'm using a brand new oem b18c1 woodruff key with the stock b18c1 crank and running a ATI street damper. The original key was lost during the motor rebuild that I started 7 months ago. So I purchased a new one. As I have put the motor back together I noticed a nice sized gap between the key and upper part of the ati pulley this doesn't seem right nor normal. Anyone ever had this issue? I thought all b series woodruff keys were the same size and to my knowledge ATI doesn't require a custom size. Any suggestions???
Yeah, that looks super suspect. Something is up there... I would contact ATI and get their opinion on what you see. Maybe they can supply a new replacement hub for your pulley... or they may suggest replacing the whole pulley. Otherwise, you will need to make a custom key to fit what you see... and if this device isn't perfect, chances are really good that you will do more harm than good when it fails.
